Does God play favorites?
Are we right in thanking Him for our success when others may be just as
blessed? Are all men equal in the eyes
of the Lord? These are some difficult
questions to answer because we add complex rationale, to simple truths.
Of course God plays favorites. The Bible is full of stories where He helped
individuals or groups of people. But He
also makes us work hard and strive for what are often difficult lessons to
learn, unless we are tested in faith and our disciplines fail to hold. For one example look at David and Goliath,
whose side was God on here? The battle
was more than just David and Goliath…it was nation against nation, divine
wisdom and an unwavering will against human strength and skill. But most importantly it was the chosen king
of the Israelites, before he was king, against the Philistines and the godless
nature of the Gath warrior.
We cannot measure the blessings of God without first
recognizing the wickedness all around us.
Look at what He tells us is our reward for our faithfulness, compared to
the misery and wrath brought on the wicked.
We cannot use one example or one victory to justify God’s favoritism,
but rather the entirety of our mind, body, spirit and soul and how His
believers will be spared from eternal misery.
The troubles we face today are but a temporary ordeal to test the
faithful and bring evil from the darkness, to expose it in the light, and be
conquered as promised. God plays
favorites, but it is up to us to determine which side-line we stand. It is up to you to decide if you want to be
on the winning side of strength and eternal favoritism or the losing side of
weakness and mortal damnation.
Are we right to thank God for our victories? Of course, just don’t forget the lessons
learned in the battles you face today may guide you and be your teacher in the
future. The ones you fight against may
be your friends in later days. The heathens you despise today may change their
hearts and be your best allies in the war against the evils of this world. And always remember no matter how good you
may think you are, there is always someone better. Your victory today does not forever seal the
conflict. Just as David says in 2nd
Samuel 23:6….”evil men are all to be cast aside like thorns,” those thorns can
come back in the spring, or be hidden by beautiful flowers until the winter.
We have the right to thank God for our victories and blessings,
not that He favors you over other brothers, but thank Him for allowing the
competition, the strength and will to even compete. Thank the Lord for delivering you to a place
where you can realize your dreams and be thankful for your abilities. For in this world there is only one true
victory….life over death…and there’s only One to ever win that battle and by so
doing He won the war against satan and death, on our behalf.
We are not all equal in this world. To think so is to ignore the realities all
around you. But in the eyes of God we
may very well be equal, but only if we believe to begin with. For all others will be cast aside eventually
in time. Don’t let time decide your
fate, for your breath can be lost or taken, at any moment.
But do not fear death, for the battle against death has already been fought for you, and we all come out on the winning side if we are born again in conscious choice. On this Easter Sunday be grateful we are counted amongst God’s favorites, by His sacrifice we have been delivered from a mortal existence to a life everlasting. Just as in the book of Peter chapters 1 and 4 we have won the battle before it even started. Be thankful, and live your life accordingly as we lead others in the victory of Faith. 🐝
