Good Morning...first you have to know what I am listening to. I listen to a lot of radio...it keeps me in touch with what people are listening to. But more important than that....I listen to what I want to. When I feel the need I play something from my CD and album collection. Right now I have Stevie Nicks "Crystal Vision" CD in...the 6th track is playing..."Silver Springs" but I know it as "Baby I Don't Wanna Know"...it's right after Stevie and Tom Petty do "Stop Draggin' My Heart Around" and before "Dreams" with Deep Dish and Stevie. Now there's an awesome three song set.
Sometimes I post directly on the blog...other times I write it out in Microsoft Word and copy it over. I am writing directly and am working on a piece for a friend in Word which I will post when finished.
In the meantime I had another request from some distant friends in Austin, Texas. This poem which has also been put to music in a definite SRV slant is for you guys...a piece of my heart will always be in Austin...you know who you are. I never said it except the wrong way...."I Love You."
This piece is called "Bus Fare" and if you wanna know how it goes listen to Stevie Ray Vaughn & Jimmy Vaughan's song "Tick Tock" (Sept. 25, 1990) it is on his "Family & Friends" CD and is the last track. This CD was released after his passing,,,which is a whole nuther story. You can also access it by Googling Stevie Ray Vaughn Tick Tick and pick up the free You Tube feed, play it off your smarty phone if you want but do it justice and at least pair it to a Blue-Tooth speaker or something...
I dunno how this song doesn't get some radio time. I requested it the other day on 91.7 FM WSGE which is a public blues/jazz station here and they played it for me...I had this CD and it got lost in the shuffle. Thanks so much Bill & Ed for your HWY 321 Blues programming...it was my pleasure to donate to the cause and I look forward to that double CD.
Thanks Stevie & Stevie for being two of the biggest influences in my life...Dessert Angel.
"Bus Fare" Re-post 12/3/2018
Over the years I still sit and stare wondering how to pay the bus fare.
On a journey thru time, stories to share...
With people who care, but I just can’t seem to get there.
Over countless tragedies and wonders galore
I can’t hold back the feeling to explore
The news of the day, just a bore
Same old, same old, some people are such whores.
Where does this magic carpet ride end
Who the hell knows, a signal I’ll send
What will be, will be around the next bend
When will I see you again my friend?
A tear to my eye does come, why do I feel so lonesome?
All I want is to go back where I came from
And enjoy my days in peace at home.
So can you help this haggard traveler?
For bus fare I will a mystery unravel
As if on display, a carnie at a carnival
Take me from this hi-way, to a road less traveled.
And there I will walk on a grass covered patch
With tress and flowers instead of the thick thatch
Birds in the air and fish in the river beginning to hatch
As I stand proud with my love on our duties watch.
And wait for the journey to again meet its’ match.
