When I was attacked, You had my back

Years ago I had a dream, more like a nightmare.  I woke in a sweat at 3 AM…thought I was dying, with only three minutes to live.

What would I do…how to say goodbye?  My wife next to me, in her own sleep spell…I had to reach out & say goodbyes.

So I took my phone & went to my contacts.  I called & let ring one time & hung up, one last gesture to those who mattered most. No words just a hit & send, a single ping.  Too many to reach out to, in the panicked seconds I had left.

No one responded, too little too late in time.  I hit the most important, family first.  Then went back over the list to friends & others most dear.  Altogether maybe 30 or so I sent.

And as I scrolled one last desperate try…your name came up.  I only had 30 seconds or so & to my surprise before I could go, you answered the ring, via text messaging.   Time I didn’t have, but I stopped & replied. That brief human contact soothed a desperate and confused soul.

You were there for me in my moment of despair, someone who genuinely cared.  As the moments ticked past 3 minutes, I realized it was just a bad dream.  But you were there, my friend Dilys & I’ll hold that memory dear.  Thank you so much, my only hope is that you know…I’ll be there for you too, if ever the need arises.

When I was attacked you had my back…actually more than once…& for that I’ll always be Grateful.

Strength in Prayer…cures many an ailing Heart. 🐝

Dream Telling

When I was a young boy I had dreams.  Dreams of nature with all her wonders, I could hear the call.  I had dreams of falling from high places, but something always caught my fall.

When I was a teenager I had dreams.  Dreams of a father I never knew, dreams of fishing & hunting the great outdoors & dreams of traveling a road unknown.

When I was a young man I had dreams, dreams of a girl, I fell in love.  Dreams of a great ocean & what’s beyond the sand & dreams of lands I didn’t understand.

When I was a middle aged man I had dreams.  Dreams of women who held my hand, dreams of victory over an untamed horror & dreams of playing music in a band.

When I was an older man I had dreams, dreams of walking a beach of soft sand, dreams of talking to animals of every kind & dreams of flying high & soaring with the wind.

When I was a greying man I had dreams.  Dreams of forgiveness for those that hurt, dreams of understanding all there is to know & dreams of sharing dreams I’ve never sold…so they’ve never been told. 🐝

Time & Times Again

You have heard it before & I’ll say it again….timing is everything & God holds the sand dial.  Those in Faith have experienced His magic, which is real time reality.  I have tried to share some of these moments in my life as proof of this statement, but in all reality I’ve experienced so many, it’s impossible to share them all…I wish I would’ve captured them in picture or prose; but in my memory many remain.

The want to write is mostly to inspire, but when distractions set in it’s hard to have much of any desire.  To help release from the tortures of this hell, I try to gather my thoughts, listen through the noise and separate decision from distraction.  Writing inspirations & opinions for me is an obligation, a sense of duty from a far away calling,  but it doesn’t pay very well.  But if by chance I could live my dreams & help oh so many others with theirs…I’d do it all for free.

A few thoughts:   Capitalism is not the problem…..greed is.  Some argue socialism is the answer, it’s not….taming the evils of greed is.  We should not limit a persons desire & ability to succeed, by stifling the entrepreneurial spirit; rather we should educate the hearts & minds of people to be good stewards  of their wants & needs.  I once read that a person who plants a seed today, knowing it will provide fruit in the future, is the basic concept of fiscal success.

In too many ways our society has got to a point where success is measured by materialism rather than spiritualism.  Look around, even the rich aren’t happy in this country.  We are the most mindfully depressed & overly medicated country in the world…& why when we should be the most happy & prosperous.  The reason is simple, our desires are more towards what we want instead of what we need.  We are also one of the most wasteful countries because we’ve become a consumer rather than a producer.  The desires of greed lead us on a path of always wanting more, & wanting it now.

When we have a perception as a society that success is how we individually prosper, rather than how we grow & stand as a nation, too many will suffer.  One of the main arguments for socialism is that it levels & equals a shared playing field, but all systems are flawed if greed & envy get in the way of true success.

If Hollywood is so divine…. why do you have to drive thru slums to get there?  Ultimately we will be judged by our greatest failures, rather than our successes.  Will the image of America be a rich man in a fancy car, or just a poor man living on the street?  Will it be of a beautiful young lady, or an elderly woman slowly dying alone?  Will it be of healthy educated children, or poorly nourished zombies growing up in a society based on greed & vanity?

Capitalism & the entrepreneurial spirit is not the problem in America, greed, envy, selfishness & putting wants in front of needs is.

Here’s a classic example…there’s a well known star in the sports world filing for bankruptcy claiming he’s $50 million in dept with only $10 million in assets.  Well one of the folks he owes money to is a snake farm he bought a $1 million dollar rare snake collection from.  Lord only knows what other “wants” he’s bought & now he can’t apparently provide his basic needs.  If you spend a million dollars on snakes…you should be the one living on the streets.  Envy, greed, desire, vanity they’re the real snakes in that story..And if we as a nation don’t get the snakes outta our heads, we’re destined for failure morally, financially, physically & most importantly spiritually.

It’s not always our actions, but the reactions they cause.  Capitalism & entrepreneurial thinking is a tool to be used for the betterment of yourself & the world around you.  Tools can build…or destroy.

We are blessed in this country that we are founded on many rights that lead to our freedoms.  One of the most important of those rights, which is taken for granted & not cherished & protected as it should be, is property rights.  With all the hubbub about free speech & other basic rights we have in this nation property rights are being hollowed out & discarded by the greed of selfish investors.  How much damn money do you need that you enrich yourself at the expense of so many others?  Don’t let the lures of greed & lavishness destroy what separates this country from all the others.  We live in a promised land, don’t let others steal our American Dream.  Property rights of farm, forest, sea & sky, soil & stream is a critical resource we must strengthen as it will bolster our other rights that lead to our freedoms.

When you use the resources around you in good intent, you will find success is much easier to accomplish.  Let that success inspire others towards good intent. That is the true entrepreneurial spirit born of capitalism but engrained in the rocks of our foundation & sealed in the individual choices we make as a nation.

Reassuring Faith

Over the years I have talked with lots of folks that need reassurance, from time to time, of their faith.  Some need some kinda sign to even...
