Fishing Fun & Frustrations

Twas the night before the perfect tide, my gear was ready my hopes were high.
I woke up four times thru the night, dreaming of that awesome fight.
Captain Rick and George say this areas best for fishin’.
It was these words of wisdom, kept me wishin.

Morning started out with a fresh dawn, jigged into a flounder got a glimpse of his white belly and he was gone.
Towards lunch I had a hunch to try the flats;
all I could muster was a bunch of rays and cats.
Then a nice trout came my way, course all he left me with was a pout.

At the end of the day I hooked a big red, he started scootin, broke my line sure as shootin.
To make matters worse I got so excited on the casting deck standing, darn tide went out, left me stranded.
Six hours later when we got out of that quagmire, cruised back to the dock and the trailer had a flat tire.

As you can tell the problem with this tale is not my lack of ability.
All the best gear in the world can’t make up for humanity.
What I’m trying to say here is that boat, motor and trailer don’t guarantee a tailer.
My son thinks I’m a phony, can’t even net a poggie.

From Daytona Beach to the North Florida Border I’ve got my line wet.
Only to come home in a cold sweat.
My family laughs, my friends all talk…”Go fishin with him…I’d rather go for a walk.”
So please Captain Rick and George hear my plea for some hands on training, to keep this poor anglers blood pressure from straining.

Heck, I’ll even go if it’s cold and raining.
