Two Friends

What is friendship that it can not be shared
As if no one really cared
We wander through life not knowing
If our true feelings are really showing
A distant thought, a helpful sign
All the more reason to be less blind
Strange how we take for granted
The things in life most enchanted
The hurt of past failures a reminder
That scares us from trying a little harder
It can best be said, what’s to be will be
And what isn’t, was not meant to be
Friends, lovers go hand in hand in time
A gentle walk on the beach of rhyme
Don’t let the good in front of you
Be wasted on the past behind you
It often takes so long to heal
I’m scared not knowing how you feel
We have only just started this journey
Let’s try not to be in a hurry
I remember our deal, no strings attached
Last thing wanted, two puppets not matched
Don’t sell what we may have short
After all there’s no jury in life’s court
You make your own case in the trial
With only God holding the sand dial
Before him we stand, judged on all we’ve done
One thing for certain, two are better than one
So remember throughout our friendship
You have a partner to help in the courtship
Together we can prove that when true friends share
All others will take note and know for each other we care.
